The Arkansas State University is a public university founded in 1909. The university is Arkansas’ second largest college system and the state’s second largest university based on enrollment. University of Central Arkansas

The College of Business

The University of Central Arkansas is a public, state-run educational institution. Located north of Little Rock, The University of Central Arkansas is the third largest college in the state with approximately 14,000 students enrolled. Founded in 1907 as the Arkansas State Normal School by the Arkansas State Legislature as a way to educate and train school teachers for the state so that haphazard teachers could be replaced. The University of Central Arkansas offers over 80 majors in six distinct colleges; the College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics, the College of Health and Behavioral Sciences, the College of Education, the College of Fine Arts and Communication, the College of Liberal Arts, and the College of Business. Acceptance into the University of Central Arkansas does not guarantee acceptance to any of the six distinct colleges.

Hendrix College

Founded in 1876, Hendrix College is a private Christian liberal arts college. Hendrix College is affiliated with the United Methodist Church and is a member of the Associate Colleges of the South. Located in central Arkansas approximately 30 miles outside of Little Rock, Hendrix College is home to 1,400 undergraduates from 45 states and 13 countries. Master of Arts in Accounting

The Master of Arts in Accounting degree program at Hendrix College is a 30 credit hour accounting program that goes beyond the Hendrix College bachelor’s degree program in accounting. The state of Arkansas requires these 30 semester credit hours in order to obtain a Certified Public Accountant license. The Master of Arts in Accounting degree program satisfies the state’s requirements. There are prerequisites for the degree program which include majoring in economics and business or accounting and economics. Further, students must have consent by the faculty. The 30 credit hours for the Master’s degree consist of eight accounting and economic related courses over a one year period. Students are required to take Management Science and Managerial Economics. Students will then need to select six additional courses from a list of twelve. Admission to Hendrix College and completion of a bachelor’s degree does not guarantee admittance into the Master of Arts in Accounting degree program.
