Saint Joseph’s College of Maine

College of Business

A Catholic, liberal-arts college in Standish, Saint Joseph’s College of Maine is a terrific option for students who want to complete a degree at their own pace and do so from an online venue. However, the college also has an option for students to attend classes in Standish on a campus of 430 acres. The campus is located just outside Portland and is the only Catholic college in the state. The Sisters of Mercy founded the college in 1912 as a school for women. It wasn’t until 1970 that the college became coeducational. Master of Accountancy Online

The Master of Accountancy course requires students to complete 36-credits and is designed for students who already have an undergraduate degree in business and are looking to transition into a career in public accounting. The program helps students develop vital competencies needed for work as certified public accountants and also helps students develop interpersonal skills and integrity. Some of the major subjects covered by the program include accounting, ethics, and leadership. Students who wish to become a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) after graduation will be able to satisfy the 150 hours of required education to sit for the CPA exam. To qualify for the program, applicants must have a 2.5 GPA for their bachelor’s degree, as well as have completed a variety of prerequisites. Those prerequisites include Financial Accounting, Managerial Accounting, Macroeconomics, Federal Tax, and Introduction to Finance. University of Maine

Maine Business School

A public research university located in Orono, the University of Maine has around 11,000 students and is the largest university in the state. Founded in 1862, as a result of the Morrill Act, the University of Maine opened in 1968 after its formal establishment in 1865. The school was originally known as the Maine College of Agriculture and the Mechanic Arts, but changed its name in 1897 to the University of Maine. University of Southern Maine

School of Business

With a motto of “Connecting You With Tomorrow,” the University of Southern Maine offers a modern campus to students that features three different campuses in the cities of Gorham, Lewiston, and Portland.
